Tomorrow KC goes to the vet --she has been grieving long and loud -- and I just figured it out yesterday.
At night she roams the halls meowing and crying at the top of her little lungs. She used to "patrol" and check on Bear, who slept in on the couch. Sometimes KC (and Missy) would sleep nearby Bear, watching over her.
During the day KC constantly whines for attention, but nothing helps. Then she has these "tears" where she is like a mad cat. She runs the halls, climbs the curtains, the shower curtain, tries to climb the walls ! Just a fury of activity.

Thursday

Missy is by my side constantly now and is a great comfort.

Wednesday

Well, I'm back, sort of. Trying to adjust to life without Bear. She was by my side for seventeen plus years. And she was a lot of work, especially as she got older. Believe it or not, all the free time is depressing.
I want to thank everyone who sent cards, left comments, called, etc. I promised to thank everyone individually, but just am not up to re-reading everything right now. There is a huge Bear-shaped hole in my heart that nothing will ever fill.
To all of you, your support meant so much. Thank you for being there.

Rest in Peace, Sweet Bear

My Sweet Bear went home at 12:15 am central time. She had been sleeping in my arms, where she died.

Saturday

UPDATE: Bear is home again, but has to return tomorrow for observation and fluids. KC was overjoyed when I put her down on the floor, she has stayed close to Bear every since. Bear really does not feel good, it's very difficult to watch her gasping for air and unable to stand up.

Bear is back at the vet to spend the day, possibly the remainder of the weekend.

They said she had some slight improvement after being home for the night. They are running more tests ($$$) today to determine exactly how much heart damage there is. Her lungs are so full of fluid they really couldn't view the heart in the xrays. The doctor that performs the echo test visits the clinic on demand ($$$$$) and he is scheduled one day next week.

A bright spot today was, again, Karen Jo's limericks, this time about Bear.

Little Bear has never figured out she is not a cat. And KC does adore her. When we brought her in last night from the vet, no one could get near her, KC was at her side from then on. Bear slept in on the couch and both KC and Missy slept near her, keeping watch.

Friday

Evening update: Bear is home now, scheduled to go back to the vet's at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The diagnosis is congestive heart failure and possible kidney/bladder cancer.
If nothing else is wrong, with the heart condition as it is, they give her about 6 months to live.

Since about 4 am, Bear has been having breathing problems. She has a great deal of congestion and is breathing very hard. She didn't eat much food all day yesterday and seems to have problems walking. She is going to the animal hospital in less than an hour, please keep her (and us) in your prayers today.

Also, song-writing Sam (Taylor Catsssss & Deb) has bladder surgery today, Rocky (Artsy-Catsy) has the 80-mile trip to check out his ears, and DKM's Joaquin went to the Bridge last night. Please keep them in your prayers.

The bright spot in my day, Kitty Limericks has a terrific limerick for Missy! It is so cute and so true.

Update #1: Bear is at the vet's where she will spend the day. After checking her records, they think she has a congestive heart condition.

Update #2: After running a slew of tests, they determined Bear has pulmonary congestion. She is on "lasik" (sp?) to get rid of the excess fluid. They are sending her home to spend the night at 6 p.m. and want her back tomorrow for observation. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

This Auction for Jody is for adorable sterling silver charms, either for a cat collar or for the kitty mommie or daddie. They can be worn as a pendant, put on a charm bracelet (clip ring and split rings attached), used as a cell phone charm (hanger included).

These were made and donated by the incredible Robyn, master jeweler.

Each charm is offered individually -- that is, three separate auctions --bid on one charm or all three.

CHARM #1: TUXIE KITTY

This is an absolutely incredible handmade glass bead with great detailing. Tuxie even has pale pink lips. Enhancing his natural tuxedo elegance are two sparkling mystic quartz beads.

CHARM #2: LOVE MY CAT

This charm has a cute silvertone heart (not sterling) with "Heart My Cat" on one side and an embossed paw print on the other. It is enhanced with a Bali daisy wheel, and a fantastic flame aura quartz bead and a sparkling mystic quartz bead.

CHARM #3: KITTY FACE

The final charm features a smiling happy kitty face in silvertone (not sterling). This charm is enhanced with a Bali Daisy wheel and a mystic quartz bead.

Flame aura quartz beads (sometimes called rainbow) are beige with flares of vivid rose and blues and golds.

Mystic aura quartz beads (sometimes called opal or angel) are clear with soft flares of rose and blue and green.

All components of the charms (wire, Bali beads, clip/split rings) are solid .925 sterling silver except where noted.
