Karl & Ruis and Former Feral Friday

Today is the Big Day, check out the wedding of the year.

***************************

Daddy Charley took this picture of his Number 1 Former Feral, KC.
It's a little blurry, but too cute not to post.
And he took this of Missy in a cute pose.
Missy wanted to thank everyone who visited and
left a comment for her Birthday / Gotcha Day.
She is proud to be the Formerly Feral Cat who started the Sherwood Bunch.

Thankful Thursday

Today is Missy's Gotcha Day!Four years ago today, I made a decision.
It changed my life forever.
I did something I said I would never do.
I got a cat.
A neighbor had to find Missy a home.
I told the neighbor I did not like cats.
The neighbor came over, with Missy hidden from view.
While we talked, she revealed Missy, cradled in her arms.
One look in those big blue eyes, at that sweet face, was too much.

So today we celebrate the 4th anniversary of
Missy Blue Eyes coming to live with us.

Today is Missy's Birthday!

When Missy came to live with us, she was about a year old.
Today we also celebrate her 5th birthday.

Faith Boo - Wacky Wordy Wednesday

I am still reeling from yesterday's posts.
Admittedly, I did not see Faith's "creations" as art.
Apparently a lot of you... well, all of you did.

Guess there is a lot of "creativity" is packed into that kitten.

For instance, yesterday, KC posted on the Cat Blogosphere Toosday Noos:
Hmmm, wonder if those mangled pieces of lizard she [Faith Boo] left behind in tha paper shreddings counted as "art" too????

To which the Taylor CatSSSSS quickly replied:
The unfortunate lizard was an ART CRITIC!!! So beware!!!!

Then this photo mysteriously appeared on my Desktop:
Who can forget the day Faith Boo "deaded" the lizard?

Or the day we looked behind the dryer...
where Faith Boo hides...
to discover the dryer vent totally CHEWED off?

Or the day she helped herself to Temptations and
then chewed open all the new bags of cat food?

Or the day I almost had "cat tail tea" due to her warming
her floofy tail in my pot of newly brewed tea?

And this morning, was her digging and shredding the shopping bags
mere greed or the beginning of another "masterpiece"?
What about the carefully unrolled cardboard scratcher?
I just don't know!

Faith Boo - Tornado Tortie Tuesday

The middle bedroom was cleaned and almost ready for furniture.
All we had to do was put the boxes and carpet cleaner in the closet.
Until Miss Faith Boomerang decided to help out.
She opened and shredded a box of trash that was taped shut.
Next, she got a roll of paper towels out of another box.
Finally, she knocked over a few of those storage boxes,
spilling the papers inside and shredding them.
All this was done in about thirty minutes.
It took a lot longer to clean up.

See the comments for an in-depth interview as the Taylor CatSSSSS discuss the dynamics of Faith Boo's artistic expressions.

Update
I had just finished the morning scooping and couldn't find F-Boo.
She was back in the middle room, apparently trying a hand paw at
"litter" art... must be a bit like sand art????
The Taylor CatSSSSS immediately contacted us over this latest "work", saying they see all types of creative expression begging to be set free.
All I see is having to wheel out the vacuum again!

BJ Mancat Monday & Memorial Day

Did you know?

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day?
It was a day set aside by General John A. Logan on May 30, 1868,
to decorate the graves of those who died in the Civil War.

After World War I, it included all who died in any American war.

Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday in 1971,
to be celebrated the last Monday in May.

There is confusion between Memorial Day and Veterans Day (Nov 11).
Veterans Day honors all veterans, living and dead.
Memorial Day honors the war dead.

Ways to celebrate Memorial Day
  • visit cemeteries and place flags or flowers on graves of fallen
  • visit memorials
  • fly the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon
  • fly the POW/MIA Flag
  • join the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 pm local time
  • help disabled veterans, widows, widowers, orphans of the fallen

Hugs Weekend

It is the Weekend of Hugs in tribute to Bonnie Underfoot,
who went to the Bridge unexpectedly Thursday morning.

Bonnie Underfoot was a star in the Cat Blogosphere.
When she left, she took a little bit of each heart that loved her.

We left Bonnie and Victor Stars on Catster.

To celebrate Hugs Weekend,
I took a photo of the twin cats, BJ and Smokey
because you can always find them hugging each other.

Thank you to everyone who commented, sent and emailed cards, posted graphics, etc. for making my birthday yesterday very special.

Hugs in Honor of Bonnie

Bonnie was one of the first cats we met when we started blogging.
She was the Original Attack Tabby and Missy Blue Eyes' role model.
Missy developed the Biggie Hissy after studying Bonnie.
To say Bonnie will be missed is such an understatement.
She took a bit of each of our hearts with her to the Rainbow Bridge.
(Thank you, Zoolatry, for the beautiful graphic)
The sudden loss of a dear friend like Bonnie left us heartbroken.
We were not going to post today until we saw the Meezers blog
and "borrowed" Sammy, Miles & Billy's idea of a Day of Hugs.
Derby went further and made it first the whole weekend,
then an entire Holiday of Hugs.
Now the Cat Blogosphere has officially named
the 4th weekend in May as HUG WEEKEND!

As the Meezers said on their blog,
"Losing a friend like Bonnie so suddenly made us realize
that we can never say Thank you or We Love You All often enough
"

We have made so many friends in the blogosphere.
Everyday we share our lives, our joys, and our sorrows.
To all these friends, we thank you and we love you.

Just saw Kashim & Othello's blog and we are "borrowing"
their idea and upgrading to a Weekend of Hugs!
So, in honor of Miss Bonnie Underfoot
and the Day / Weekend / Holiday of HUGS....

*******hugs******* (Sol)

Love, The Sherwood Bunch

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes.
(Thanks, Zoolatry, that's my favorite photo of Missy.)

TT - Faith Boo & The Lizard

Faith Boo: I am only eight months old,
but have already proofed myself to be an extraordinary huntress.
Last week, I had my furrst major stalk and kill
when Unlucky Lizard sneaked into our house.
Thirteen Things I Learned From Hunting The Lizard
  1. His tail was not attached very good
  2. He could not outwit a Texas Tornado Tortie
  3. Even if he had, he'd still have to deal with KC and my 3 brofurs
  4. He played dead. A lot.
  5. He was fun to play wif
  6. He made mine mommie go "eeeeeeeeekkkkkk"
  7. Efurryone of the Sherwood Bunch had to have a turn chasing him
  8. I was furry good and shared
  9. Wish Rascal could have been here
  10. Chasing was a lots of work and I got tired
  11. I am a natural hunter and I deaded him
  12. He tasted sort of like chicken (hee hee)
  13. Actually, I like temptations better!

Wordy Wednesday - Two Secrets Revealed

Secret #1:
Mommy & Daddy couldn't figure out why
the house got so hot when the dryer was on.
Hee hee hee.
Hmmmm, wonder how that happened??????
[Rascal, this one's for you. Love, Faith Boo]

Secret #2
Bow, The Baby Squillion
Midori and Grr, Midnight & Cocoa were right.
During her famous Squillions auctions,
Beau's Mom Cathy posted that she "killed" a kitten.
It's head broke off and she put it in the trash.
She told me and I asked her to auction it, that I would bid on it.
Auntie Deb found out and wanted it also.
So began a bidding war.
Bidding was high [see comments] when I began having tooth problems.
Without me bidding, Deb won . [see comments]
I was so surprised & happy when Deb sent Bow to me.
Mom Cathy had constructed a special healing neck brace,
so "his head wouldn't fall off during his trip".
I replaced the "orthopedic collar" with ribbon.
He was named Bow because the bow hides his scars.

Missy - Tabby Tuesday & A Clue to Bow's Secret

No one has guessed Bow's secret.
It was mentioned several times during the
Great Squillions Bidding Wars on Beau's bloggie.
(That's a major clue)

With that, we'll see if anyone figures it out.
If not, I'll post more clues later.... Purrs, Missy Blue Eyes

Mancat Monday - Smokey and a Surprise

Hi, this is Smokey.
What better way to celebrate Mancat Monday than
with a special banner for my beautiful and smart friend, Pixel,
just to let her know how special she is to me. :: blushes ::
(thanks, Zoolatry, for the great banner)
Allow me to introduce Bow, a very special baby Squillion.
He has come to live with Theo, CK and the rest of us,
courtesy of our Auntie Deb & the Taylor CatSSSSS.
Bow has beautiful markings and is purrfect from all sides.
But he does have a huge secret!
Can you guess what it is?
Here is a Mancat Monday group shot (l-r) of Bow, Theo & CK.
What a lovely Squillion family.

Faith Boo - Formerly Feral

Cat Date: Wednesday 14th of May.
Faith Boo got into an opened package of Temptations and helped herself. Cat Date: Thursday AM 15th of May.
We heard a huge noise to the back of the house.
Faith Boomerang got into the bottom drawer of the storage unit.
She worked her way up from behind to the next to the top drawer...
... and pushed it out onto the floor. All the other cats came running to play.
The bottom vanity drawer was pushed out (see 2nd photo),
towels were pulled from the racks, and cat toys were everywhere.
Did I mention the shredded toilet paper? And the wild game of tub soccer?

Cat Date: Thursday PM 15th of May.
Had to leave the shopping bags on the floor to help Margaret, next door.
When I returned....
...someone had gnawed holes in BOTH new bags of food.
Miss Faith Boomerang aka The Texas Tornado strikes again!
This summarizes about 18 hours in our lives.

Faith Boo has a huge crush on Rascal.
Can you imagine those two together?????
