Thursday and Friday

Auntie Deb got home last night. She may not blog today, but you know she wants to!
When we talked, last night about 8 pm, she had not needed a single pain pill since the procedure. She said she had forgotten what it felt like not to hurt. Yay!

Auntie Deb’s procedure began at 8:30 a.m.
(Thursday)
They do not allow cell phones, so they will be out of touch fur a while.
Tatum will be with her and they will let us know as soon as they can.
Keep yours paws (and fingers) crossed that this works
.

Texas will be going to the Bridge very soon.
The lymphoma has returned and he will not be getting additional chemo,
which was very hard on him.
We will miss this lovely, brave, fractious cat so much.

Wordy Wednesday - Funny

A Cat's Purrayer (with translations)

Although I am too proud to beg, and may appear to be a very independent creature, I ask for your loving care and attention. (Translation: I'm the boss, serve me)

I rely on you for my well being much more than you may realise. (Translation: Go out and earn money to keep me in the style to which I intend to become accustomed)

This I promise you, my benefactor, that I will not be a burden on you nor will I demand more of you than you care to give. (Translation: The more attention I get, the more I want. You may have to hire another slave for me... and by the way, I lie!)

I will be a quiet peaceful island of serenity for you to gaze upon; a soft soothing body to caress, and I shall purr with pleasure to rest your weary ears. (Translation: I will tear round the house smashing ornaments at 3 a.m., infest the house with fleas, and bite your mother when she comes to visit... and did I mention that I lie?)

Since I am a gourmet who appreciates different taste sensations, I pray you will give me a variety of nutritious foods and fresh water daily. (Translation: I need Evian water, changed at least six times per day, chilled but not too cold. Any food offerings that you make, no matter how expensive, will be turned down if I think there is a chance that I can scrounge the three day old bread that next door put out for the birds)

You know dear friend, how I love to sleep. Allow me, I pray, a warm sheltered place where I can rest peacefully and feel secure. (Translation: Don't you dare wake me, I know where you sleep, and will get revenge - claw type bloody revenge!)

If I am wounded in battle or suffering from disease, please tend me gently, and see that I am treated by loving and competent hands. (Translation: I reserve the right to mangle the most expensive hands you hire to treat me)

Please protect me from the inhuman humans who would hurt and torture me for their own amusement. I am accustomed to your gentle touch and am not always suspicious nor swift enough to avoid such malicious acts. (Translation: If you ever find out that it was me who bit your mother's thumb and gave her tetanus, I'll have to claim that she woke me up when I was having a bad dream)

In my later years when my senses fail me and my infirmities become to great to bear, allow me the comfort and dignity that I desire for my closing days and help me gently in my pain or passing. (Translation: When I've had enough of being pampered, please send me to my next reincarnation, where I look forward to being satisfactorily served once more)

Hear this prayer, my dear friend, my fate depends on you. (Translation: I might just accept you as slave, if you behave yourself)

Furriends on Friday

We won't be blogging much today.
Mommie ML dislocated her leg Thursday afternoon.
I've got to keep her still and quiet until we can get
Dr. Bob to un-dislocate it.
.......Purrs, Faith Boomerang

The Sherwood Bunch is sending out lots and lots of
(((((( HUGS ))))))
to all our furriends.

Art Projects

I am inspired by the lovely Riley and
her recent work, What Is Inside The Big Chair.
I recently began a project of my own, Clawing A Chair Open.
It is a work in progress.
I am days, if not weeks, behind Riley, so I must keep busy.
I have uncovered the chair-guts, a lovely green foam.
Who knows what else is in there, maybe even boards, like Riley found.
.... Sol

pee ess: It would go much faster if my little sister, Faith Boomerang would just help me. But no, she's far too busy with her own projects to help me out.

KC - Easy Sunday

KC's recommended reading for an Easy Sunday Morning...

The Laws of Physics for Cats
(Author Unknown)

  1. Acceleration: A cat will accelerate at a constant rate until the cat gets good and ready to stop.
  2. Aerodynamics: If it flies, a cat will chase it.
  3. Bag or Box Occupancy: All bags and boxes in a given room must contain a cat within the earliest possible nanosecond.
  4. Dinner Table Attendance: A cat will attend all meals when anything good is served.
  5. Disinterest: A cat's interest level will vary in inverse proportion to the amount of effort a human expends in trying to interest the cat.
  6. Electric Blanket Attraction: Turn on an electric blanket and a cat will jump into bed at the speed of light.
  7. Elongation: A cat can make its body long enough to reach just about any counter top that has anything remotely interesting on it.
  8. Embarrassment: A cat's irritation rises in direct proportion to the cat's embarrassment times the amount of human laughter.
  9. Energy Conservation - 1st Law: A cat knows that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and will therefore use as little energy as possible.
  10. Energy Conservation- 2nd Law: A cat knows that energy can only be stored by a lot of napping.
  11. Fluid Displacement: A cat immersed in milk will displace its own volume, minus the amount of milk consumed.
  12. Furniture Replacement: A cat's desire to scratch furniture is directly proportional to the cost of the furniture.
  13. Gravity: The cat knows that gravity works, even when sound asleep.
  14. Inertia: A cat at rest will tend to remain at rest, unless acted upon by some outside force, such as the opening of cat food or a nearby scurrying mouse.
  15. Landing: A cat will always land in the softest place possible.
  16. Magnetism: All blue blazers and black sweaters attract cat hair in direct proportion to the darkness of the fabric.
  17. Milk Consumption: A cat will drink its weight in milk, squared, just to show you that the cat can do it.
  18. Motion: A cat will move in a straight line, unless there is a really good reason to change direction.
  19. Obedience Resistance: A cat's resistance varies in direct proportion to a human's desire for the cat to do something.
  20. Obstruction: A cat will lay on the floor in such a position as to obstruct the maximum amount of human foot traffic.
  21. Pill Rejection: Any pill given to a cat has the potential energy to reach escape velocity.
  22. Random Comfort Seeking: A cat will always seek (and usually take over) the most comfortable spot in any given room.
  23. Refrigerator Observation: If a cat watches a refrigerator long enough, someone will come along and take out something good to eat.
  24. Rug Configuration: No rug may remain in its naturally flat state for very long.
  25. Sleeping: A cat will sleep with people whenever possible, in a position as uncomfortable for the people involved as possible, while maintaining the cat's own comfort.
  26. Stretching: A cat will stretch to a distance proportional to the length of the nap just taken.
  27. Thermodynamics: Heat flows from a warmer to a cooler body, except in the case of a cat, in which case all heat flows to the cat.
  28. Total Composition: A cat is composed of Matter plus Anti-Matter plus It Doesn't Matter!
  29. Selective Listening: A cat can hear a can of tuna being opened a mile away, but cannot hear a simple command three feet away.
  30. Invisibility: A cat thinks if they cannot see you, then you cannot see them.

A Note from KC

Do you remembers tha mean man who killed three feral cats behind a Fox news station in Richmond VA?
Tha man, Keith Copi, a pest control operator, had been called to remove tha cats. Instead, he killed them.
Virginia Prosecutor Wade Kizer haf charged Mr. Copi wif three counts of violating Virginia's anti-cruelty law of cruelly or unnecessarily killing a cat.
If convicted, he faces a maximum of 12 months in jail and $2500 fine per each cat killed.

If you's like to say fanks to Attorney Wade Kizer fur taking the lives of cats seriously and taking a stand for these three feral cats, click here to sign Alley Cat Allies’ petition. Purrs, KC

Smokey - Thursday Thirteen for Pixel

(1) I got a package! Mommie ML had to pick it up at the Party Room. At first they couldn't find it. They had put it in a special place since it was so big. When she walked out through the party room, all the beans saw the box and began to wish her a Happy Birthday. She told them it was MY birthday, not hers, and that the package was from Pixel, MY GIRL FRIEND CAT!
(2) I had to inspect the package very carefully.
(3) Then I starting tearing the tape off.
(Pixel uses as much tape as my Mommie)
(4) Finally, I got part of the box open and could see stuff.
(5) I pushed the flap and there was so much stuff...
(6) ...a ton of stuff. At least! Wow!
(7) I lifted the other flap and there was another ton of stuff!
(8) Mommie had to help me get everything out of the box.
I wanted to get inside and look at it all.
I'll bet Pixel sat in this same box just like I am.
(9) Then I decided to get out and inspect everything.
This cool scratcher will keep my mancat claws very sharp.
(10) This thick, soft bed is all mine. I will dream of sweet Pixel.
(11) The food dish has manly bright stripes and food to put in it.
That little girl thinks of everything!
(12) Aha, I saw a yellow fev-ver and dragged it over to BJ.
I played with it and BJ got to watch.
(13) Then I took my favorite yellow fev-ver back into the box.
It was all so overwhelming, I needed quiet time to sit and think of Pixel.
Pixel, your gifts were the best part of my first birthday.
