Most Fantastic Gift - Thank You, Jack & OTW

I've got a lot of catching up to do. This was a wonderful holiday, in spite of Charley's diabetes and migraines. Unfortunately, I've been paying so much attention to his health that the really important things, like the cat news, suffered.

KC's Handsome Viking Cat Boy Friend, Jack, and his OTW Brenda sent KC the most amazing package. I discovered it late one evening, hidden in a corner on the porch. Things were hectic and I delayed opening it. I'm glad I waited until KC & I could really enjoy it.

The contents are truly amazing.
All the items are made by hand and the work and thought and detail is incredible.
I truly do not know what to say. Except Thank You.

There was so much in the package and it is all so special, I wanted to make several posts. This first post is about the top layer items.
Yup, all these gorgeous items were the first things we saw when we opened the box.

The colorful little house contained a growling mousie and some chase toys. There was a cute little card from Jack. A green frog held a surprise string. And some of Jack's beloved red ribbon (you can see it in many of the posts on his blog). KC loved the ribbon right away.
The little frog was holding a string... the card explained that it was constructed of sewing thread. When I looked at it closer (i.e., with my reading glasses on) I realized it was woven with "Jack", "KC", and hearts. Amazing talent.
It is "tablet weaving", something I intend to research later.

All of those items were on the top layer. I was so surprised to look back and see the box was not empty:

Look! Six cute little kitty bags inside!
I grabbed the one with a tag that said "KC" sticking out.

I opened it and couldn't believe it... just look!
If that doesn't have KC's expression and markings, right down to the golden paw. The fabric is solid brown, all the detail was done by hand.
In the next post I'll show the contents of the remaining five bags. It was really fun to explore, even while being swarmed by six curious determined cats.

And to Jack and OTW Brenda, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This was absolutely one of the best presents we have ever received.

  12. Aha, Ms. Mog, you have brought up an important point.
Should the cats play with these beautifully crafted toys?
Personally, I think not. What do you think????

And I hope, after today's ordeal, that Hoss's Mom is getting some rest. Getting a male neutered is so much work.

  19. The OTW says "PLAY WITH THEM! That's what they're for! Besides, you'll never be able to keep Missy and Faith Boo away from theirs!"

Also she did want to point out she didn't make the paper bags and froggie and house. Those are the work of the crazy scary talented Marilyn Scott-Waters, an illustrator and paper-toy pusher from California. She just printed and cut them out and glued them together. The OTW, that is.

The OTW couldn't design a cut-out-and-glue dodecahedron to save her life. She couldn't even get the geometry right on a three sided pyramid out of two pieces of cloth. Or a bird she tried weaving that she had just gotten right FOUR TIMES with cloth sewn together.

She's glad you like them. :)

    Purrrrrrrrrrrs, KC!
