Saturday Hero - Faith Boomerang

Little Faith Boomerang is a natural-born hero.
Again.
This morning I opened a bathroom drawer,
and one of those big wood roaches flew out at me.
While I was shrieking,
Sol, Smokey & BJ trampled each other to exit.
Fighting her way into the bathroom,
against the tide of big man cats,
was determined little Faith Boomerang.
She fiercely kept the large bug back
while Daddy Charley caught it.
Such a courageous little girl.

The doctor called and confirmed that Charley does indeed have gout.
I am researching his new diet, just got his meds and wanted to let everyone know.
He and KC are curled up asleep right now.

Tortie Toosday - Hero Faith Boomerang

Here is Smokey's partner-in-crime,
the Brave and Beautiful Faith Boomerang.
Once Smokey had alerted me and
chased the ginormous spider into the hall,
Faith positioned herself between the spider and me.
It was a bit frustrating, but she was determined to kill it.
Fortunately, I outmaneuvered the floofy gal and squished the spider with a shoe.

Charley went to the doctor yesterday for blood work and to check his foot.
The test results should be back later today.
The doctor does not think he has gout, although she ran tests for it.
She also could not find anything wrong with his foot.
The next time it swells and hurts, he will go have an xray.

Mancat Monday - Hero Smokey

Smokey is a natural hero.
Even before the wee hours of Saturday morning.
But he found and tracked a huge spider
roaming the bedroom while we slept.
He finally woke me up when it got lost in
some of the piles on the very messy floor.

As I cautiously moved the piles, item by item,
Smokey chased the intruder spider to the hall.
Faith Boomerang joined in, determined she stay
between the large spider and myself at all costs.
Protecting her helped me overcome an
intense fear of large spiders and make the kill!
The toilet-side funeral (aka flushing) was attended
by Smokey, Faith Boomerang and myself.

After that, I couldn't sleep!!!
While Smokey and Faith Boomerang kept a close eye (and nose)
for more spidery company, I cleaned out the entire bedroom.
Four trash bags, five donation boxes and
a lot of work later, it was scrubbed clean and neat.
Thanks, Smoke-Smoke!

(The newly-deceased was a grass spider, about 2-inches or a bit more...
to me, it was large huge.
If the cats try to kill one and get bitten, will it hurt them?)

PS: Smokey enjoyed some small strips of pork roast for a special treat.
He is a very happy boy.

Saturday Caturday with BJ & Sol

Doing what formerly feral housecats do best... snuggling and cuddling.

Sunday a.m. update:
Charley's feeling worse, so I'm really glad we didn't go.
He is on the couch, cuddling with all the kitties!

Hope everyone at Blog Paws is having a blast!
Charley is sticking to his diet & meds, so far so good.

I am unhappy about missing Blog Paws, but don't want to make Charley feel too bad.
And there is a bright spot, Deb may be back in Houston soon.
While it is for more repairs to her back,
we will still work in some day trips and fun.

A note from ML:
Right now I am supposed to be on my way to Blog Paws.
I am heartbroken because I cannot attend.
Charley hurt his "good" foot earlier this week... not the paralyzed (left) one.
He cannot walk at all.
At first they thought it was a mild fracture, tests show it is gout, too much uric acid.
Since he has diabetes, this is something to really be watched.

I was so looking forward to meeting all my furriends in person,
especially Robyn, Teri and Caroline...
and others... just not sure who is attending.
I know it is selfish, but I am feeling bad right now.

Send Charley some purrs and huggs, he definitely needs them.
He also needs to stay on a diet and it is difficult to get him to do this.
