Smokey's Mancat Monday Contest

Smokey invented a new game Sunday afternoon.

He removed the ball from the Starchaser in one room and rolled it to the living room, carefully placing it into the track of a different Starchaser!

Once I realized what he was doing, I snapped the second ball into the track. When I did that, he went into a frenzy (as only Smokey can) of chattering and pushing the balls around. He devised all sorts of plays... not unlike pools shots.

Is he not a clever, genius cat, that Smokey???

Here Sol demonstrates the technique of Smokey Starchaser... it's a whole new game!

By the time I got the camera, Smokey was resting, so Sol was playing, well, solitaire!

Exciting, isn't it?

Smokey would like his furriends to be able to play Smokey Starchaser.

He is giving away a Regulation Smokey Starchaser
-- which is a standard Starchaser plus an extra LED ball --
to the contest winner.

pee ess: KC Update 

She is feeling a bit better. Last night she watched the Smokey Starchaser games.
She and Jack, who had telerported over, played with ribbons.

Weekend Update - Saturday

Thank you to Gracie for this beautiful graphic.

I emailed Dr. Smith Thursday with all the details of the visit with Dr. Rutledge.

Dr. Rutledge has called several times to check on KC.

KC is still snotty and sickly, I'm giving her the meds.
She will go to one of the vets Monday morning.
Daddy Charley is well now.
Mommie ML has a migraine, it's getting ready to storm, but fortunately NO flu!!!

KC Update

KC went to the vet yesterday and her poor mommy nearly collapsed.

But all is well now.

Thursday morning, KC started having severe difficulty breathing.

 Daddy Charley had been really sick all day Wednesday with a stomach flu.
I was so busy cleaning up, mopping, doing laundry and waiting on him.
I had not slept all day since Tuesday p.m. thru Thursday a.m., so I was exhausted.

About 8:00 a.m. Thursday, I could hear the snot trying to move in KC's tiny nose,
but it would not move, something that had never happened before.

She was panicking, and starting to whimper and meow softly,
and that just got to me.

I already had her in a vaporizer, and she had taken a decongestant a few hours before; 

they had not helped at all. I was close to panic.

I did not realize it, but Thursday was the one day The Houston Cat Hospital opens at 9 a.m.

I called them and got a "we are not open yet, please call an emergency vet" message, which in my "crazed" state just didn't compute.

I put KC in the car and drove 2 miles to a neighborhood vet who is not a cat specialist, but an excellent vet (he was Tazz & Bear's vet) and he has a way with animals.

KC was very quiet on the short trip over, which is unlike her.

The vet was concerned, said she was very sick, but pointed out it is normal in former feral cats where their membranes have been scarred.

He said she will be on daily antibiotics the rest of her life, which corresponds with what Dr. Smith has said.

He requested Dr. Smith's records so that he can coordinate the drugs that KC uses. 

His hours are more flexible, he is closer to us,
and will be able to see her on very short notice, maybe even open his office just for KC after hours.

pee ess: KC and I slept 12 hours under the vaporizer last night!!!
Oh, I never got what Daddy Charley got, I guess migraines give me immunity!!!!
And we got A/D and all kitties are very happy!!!

Tabby Toosday - Missy

The black cat clock for Chrystal's auction came today.
I unwrapped it, just to make sure it wasn't damaged.
Then I put batteries in, to make sure the tail actually wagged.
Then I wanted to see how it looked on the wall.
It is adorable!!!
No way I'm giving that up.
Decided I would order the winner their own and have it delivered to them.
It's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Of course, Sol immediately jumped up, grabbed the tail and ran off,
so that could be a small problem.

pee ess: And yes, Cindy, these are your figurines. Mom ML keeps them in the kitchen so she can see them while she works. The biggest is Stargazer Bear and he is the newest. Ribbon Bear was purchased for a gift, but Cindy made him a necklace with ML's initials so she couldn't give him away! Mom ML has Cindy's stuff all over our house!
