Just got home from the vet, KC was hiding all day. When I found her, she was having very labored breathing. Rushed her to the vet nearest us and still open.
He gave her an antibiotic shot, thinks this could be related to her problems as a kitten or might be something worse. He said to watch her closely all night for symptoms of worsening. I have an emergency number to call, the Sugarland Emergency Vet Number.
It may a polyp blocking her breathing, it maybe a cold, or it could be something else.
His plan is to try a round of antibiotics and see if it works, if her breathing, which is very labored and strained, improves. He said it was very bad.
If it doesn't, he wants to send her to a specialist for surgery and tests.
She is really uncomfortable, is having a hard time breathing, it is breaking my heart.
She will not let me set her down.
Please send her purrs that is just a cold or her problem from being a stray.
pee ess: Yes, thank you for the suggestion... I did take her in the bathroom and let her sit on the side of the tub while I took a quickie bath. It's her favorite thing to do. She loves to test the water temp with her tail. Of course, I got out sorta fast when she started snorting into the tub. But that was good for her.
And I do have the vaporizer going right by the bed, aimed at her "spot". That's what she was wanting from the time I got her home, to go to bed and lay in the steam. She's a pretty smart little tortie.
Update: 2:30 AM
KC has been "steaming" and is getting rid of more snot. One nose is almost completely clear.
That helps so much, because all day both sides were totally blocked. She was shaky, gasping and struggling to get air. When I asked the vet if she would be all right overnight, since her breathing was so labored, he just said, "I hope so". Didn't sound very hopeful.
Maybe we can both get a few hours rest now.
