I think this baby is so wonderful! I wish the people at the shelter in California could see this little "monster" of a kitten!!! Not adoptable? How do you know if you're not willing to try?! Karen, Deb, Mary Lynn, you're my heros!!!

KC's medical history 7/21/06: CONDITION: FRACTIOUS.
Unruly, irritable, snappish, cranky. Ok, that sounds like me sometimes, but not this wide-eyed, confident little bundle of cat-titude prancing in front of us today.

TREATMENT DESCRIPTION: ck stray, appears healthy, bar, unable to tpr, uncooperative.

TPR is getting temperature, pulse, respiration; vital signs.

Couldn't locate anything on "bar" notation, maybe just means to keep behind bars, in a cage? Or bar from adoption? Anyone know?

On the EXIT EVALUATION, KC's condition was noted as "at risk, temp 100.7F underweight, owner aware still want the kitten".

Deb got an appointment with the Houston Cat Hospital on Monday. Her vet is wonderful, can't wait to show her these insipid papers.

KC you have a real cute face and it doesn't show any fear in it like the pic taken at the terrible place where you were mistaken for a wild wild tiger. Thanks to everyone involved. Looks like KC is going to be Charley's kitty.

I think KC & Charley are a team. Charley adores that little cat. And you know what that means...Missy is all mine!!!!

She hasn't left my side all evening. She hasn't hissed, she just nuzzled my hand a bit.

KC just went in her litter box.
She woke up, I set her in it about 3 times, each time she ran out. Then she got in it by herself, pushed the litter around and went for it.

She ran around the room a few times, followed me into the kitchen. I sat down at the computer, she sat down at my feet and gave out this strange little "meow", but real deep. She kept going till I picked her up. She nuzzled, purred loud, finally squirmed around and nibbled on my fingers, then wanted down. A few minutes later, at my feet, meowing to be picked up.

Also, her papers said she was born 5/21/06 and was 8 weeks old??? I don't know much about cats, but she seems terribly small.

perhaps she will be a dainty little kitty w/ lots of catitude. hooray for kc using the litter box!!!

Oh, you little doll! Are your eyes still blue, or is it the photo?

Her eyes are exactly the color in this picture, sort of sea green / blue/ gray. Think it was Sloane who said her eyes were like her fur, hard to say just one color. She has hypnotizing eyes.

One gaze and she got Charley! Hee-hee.

She is so cute! ML, she does seem a little small for 8 wks. How much does she weigh? Usually they say for every pound you can figure 1 month of age, for a kitten. But if she was indeed ferral, she may be a little small for her age. I can't get over how adorably cute she is! And such beautiful markings! Can't wait to see more pics!

Think she weighs about one pound. On the release papers is a section animal may have a medical condition, and they wrote underweight (1 pound only). See Karen C's comment above about her age.

She's just so tiny, her little body is about 5-6" long and she stands about 5" high. Karen C said she was very light, she is. It's weird to pick her up. She's got a nice sharp set of little toothies. And they put an id chip in her. They also listed the neuter date as 8/21.

Is she eating for you? Yes, as far as spaying/neutering, they can be done as young as 2mos., but they have to be 2 lbs. or 2 mos. Are you sure it's a girl? Has anyone checked? I had two fosters come to me as girls. They were only 5 weeks old?. One day as they were laying next to me on their back, I looked...and I was like...What are those!! They were BOTH boys!! LOL! Whoever had checked them, didn't check them well. It's sometimes hard to tell when they're so young!

She ate a bit of the a/d canned food when Deb & Sloane were here. That's what she threw up all over me about an hour later. Then she discovered the Purina Kitten Chow (keep it as a treat for Missy), and she ate a good helping. After pooping in her litter box tonight -- THE FIRST TIME -- she went back and had more of the dry food.

Well, whatever sex it is, it won't be for long. Ha-ha. Doesn't matter. But that would be funny. I had heard cats are tricky to tell sometimes.

Hey again, it's 5 a.m. here in Houston. Bear got me up to walk her, then get her breakfast. Missy comes in to see what's going on.

Enter KC. She had been hiding, but when she sees Missy, she runs to her. Just too sweet. Missy didn't notice until KC had run up to her and rubbed against her. Missy saw KC, turned and ran into another room.

It's not much, but it's a start. KC NEEDS Missy. Missy was the only one who could get KC to voluntarily come out from hiding.

We'll see what happens in the days to come. Missy must get used to being adored by KC.

Deb to shelter manager: "Hand over the kitten and nobody gets hurt."

He had no idea who he was dealing with.
