Farewell, Bandit

Four neighbors came to tell me Bandit had gone to the Bridge early this morning. He was hit by a car on Westpark Drive. Margaret and I got a box and wrappings and got him off the busy road.

My first photos of Bandit were taken in July 2007.
We had a routine where he showed up about 6 p.m. everynight for supper. He would walk me to get the mail, rubbing up against my leg and mewing.
He could never be persuaded to give up his outdoor lifestyle, though countless people tried to adopt him, including me. I was the only one he would allow to rub his tummy and play with, at least that was what he told me.

He will be very missed.

Poor Bandit. He might not have lived in your house but he was evidently at least partly your cat. He sure was handsome.

I'm just sitting here thinking "what if". I could never get Bandit to stay in the house. He was an absolutely gorgeous kitty, being from Momma Tortie's litter before the one with Faith Boomerang. All her kitties are beautiful. At least ten different people tried to adopt him over the years, but he would not stay indoors.
I was on the phone earlier this morning, and Smokey and BJ were just went crazy, scratching and clawing at the door, as if to get out.
That was probably the time Bandit was hit.

Purrs and prayers... we often give as much love to those who live beyond our doorstep as those who live within.

We're sorry to hear the sad news about Bandit. While he might not have lived inside your home, the love you gave him made a huge difference in his life. He was lucky to have you and fortunate that you didn't try to force him to stay indoors.

Purrs to you and everyone who cared for him.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and everyone else's, who tried to adopt Bandit. Unfortunately, outside kitties face many things that are harmful to them. We've experienced this too many times here (not our kitties), and it hurts so much to see them go to the bridge :(

Oh ML how very sad to read about sweet Banditwho stole your hearts and so many others in his short life. He seemed to live like he wanted to and have the best of both worlds. It is never easy to watch a loved bundle of fur go out of this world. They go on to another world where all is well forever. he touched many lives...you loved him well. That is what counts...
