Finally Friday

Charlie Cat is settling in.
He stopped making the loud "marhhhh" noise and is making softer, mewing sounds.
Yesterday he curled up on my shoulder and made "biscuits" on my arm while purring.
Last night he curled up in my lap to go to sleep.
I think he likes me!
I finally have my lap cat!!!!

Offishul Portrait of Charlie Taylor Sherwood by Zoolatry.

pee ess: All the photos of Charlie Cat from this past week were taken by Auntie Deb. You can see Charlie didn't have many whiskers. Now they seem to be growing back in.
Could he have "worried his whiskers off"???

Every human needs a lap cat. And every cat needs to know there is a lap available. If he so deigns to use it.

We haven't had a chance to welcome Charlie yet, so welcome!! It's nice to meet you. We're glad that you're being a lapkitty for Mommy ML.....for some reason, mama's love that sort of thing.

Worried your whisker off... we don't like the sound of that.

But a handsome feline that is.

Worried his whiskers off? Oh dear! is that like a sort of allo-peesha for cats?

We hope Charlie is OK and we are glad he has a nice comfy loving lap to sit on - 'cos that's poortant.

We are both lap cats. Mum says it is very relaxing to have a purring kitty on your lap.

Hi Charlie Cat! I just read your story. Concats on having found a good home - you must be very intelligent.
Thank you for joining my blog followers and for partying with me on Wednesday. I really appreciate your birthday wishes.

Yup. Grumpybutt did that. He was either living in an empty apartment, or with the sister of his previous human (who had kids and a husband Whisper didn't like) for about a month, and when he got to us he only had a few stubby whiskers. The OTW thought he just had weird whiskers until they grew in thick and longer than MINE!

Welcome, Charlie! You found yourself a GREAT home!

Purrrrrrrrrrrr, KC!

~Jack

Oh good! He's not a Plat-EE Pussycat! I thought maybe you had a plat-ee-pussycat at your place! They're horrible! Hi Charlie!

It is so lovely to have a lap kitty. Sounds as though Charlie knows he is now loved very much. I think it is quie possible that he worried his whiskers off. Poor little thing.

That's a very handsome official portrait! Rexes usually have curly whiskers that are brittle and tend to break off easily. Pixie only had little whisker stubs because hers were always broken off. I have short whiskers on one side, but longer ones on the other side!

He is really something -- and wow! A lap cat. They are really special. Indy was my lap cat -- Grace and crew can't be bothered, although they do hang out wherever I am -- just not ON me!!

Great portrait, Charlie Cat! You are one handsome dude!

Yes, ML, this is how Charlie looked as a baby! The little brown tabby girl is his coloration, as is the one on the bookshelf. You will have fun watching them grow and imagining how Charlie was as a young cat.

He looks like a brown mackerel tabby, and what you may be seeing is the golden under or between the striping. I can't see his sides, so it's possible he is a classic rather than a mackerel pattern though. Sometimes it's harder to tell in a CRex as their wave pattern gets in the way, but in a mackerel pattern the stripes run down his sides like fishbones (hence, mackerel) and the classic pattern is more like well, rings of a tree or bullseye on the side.

Here is a description of the coloration and he certainly has a wonderful coat for an older CRex!

BROWN MACKEREL TABBY PATTERN: markings dense, clearly defined, and all narrow pencillings. Legs evenly barred with narrow bracelets coming up to meet the body markings. Tail barred. Necklaces on neck and chest distinct, like so many chains. Head barred with an "M" on the forehead. Unbroken lines running back from the eyes. Lines running down the head to meet the shoulders. Spine lines run together to form a narrow saddle. Narrow pencillings run around body, ground color brilliant coppery brown. Markings dense black. Lips and chin the same shade as the rings around the eyes. Back of leg black from paw to heel. Nose leather: brick red. Paw pads: black or brown. Eye color: gold.

CLASSIC TABBY PATTERN: markings dense, clearly defined, and broad. Legs evenly barred with bracelets coming up to meet the body markings. Tail evenly ringed. Several unbroken necklaces on neck and upper chest, the more the better. Frown marks on forehead form an intricate letter "M." Unbroken line runs back from outer corner of eye. Swirls on cheeks. Vertical lines over back of head extend to shoulder markings which are in the shape of a butterfly with both upper and lower wings distinctly outlined and marked with dots inside outline. Back markings consist of a vertical line down the spine from butterfly to tail with a vertical stripe paralleling it on each side, the three stripes well separated by stripes of the ground color. Large solid blotch on each side to be encircled by one or more unbroken rings. Side markings should be the same on both sides. Double vertical rows of buttons on chest and stomach. ground color brilliant coppery brown. Markings dense black. Lips and chin the same shade as the rings around the eyes. Back of leg black from paw to heel. Nose leather: brick red. Paw pads: black or brown. Eye color: gold.

Charlie is very handsome. Mommy says lap kitties get the best scritches, so he sounds like a very smart mancat. (I think my mommy is trying to convince us to be lap kitties too.)
