Wordy Wednesday - Charlie Taylor at the Vet

Charlie Taylor agrees to exit the PTU to investigate some goodies from Dr. Smith.

Leslie and Dr. Smith talk to Charlie.

Dr. Smith makes some notes about our sweet Charlie.

Here, Dr. Smith confers closely with her client.
That's one reason she is such a great vet, she really listens to the cats.

Leslie gives Charlie T. a yummy treat -- Recovery Diet -- made of all sorts of stinky things. He loves it. We brought some home with us, too!

Cheryl is one of Charlie's old friends from his lengthy stay. Here he is snuggling up to her.

********************************

Charlie Taylor was almost sick with a cold. Fortunately, having to take him in for meds refill caught it in time. He is now on antibiotic, ear drops and eye drops. Plus he has several new kinds of cat food to try, including the Recovery Diet in the photos above.

He did lose a few ounces, is at 10 pounds in weight. He is somewhat dehydrated, but with his kidney and heart issues, can't have fluids.
Dr. Smith said to remember every day with him is a gift and he is living on borrowed time.

I hope it's a really long time.

QM had a cat several years ago, Tomas, who She took into the vet for a check up. It was discovered he was jaundiced, a "yellow cat" as the vet put it. She drew blood for tests, but told QM when cats get liver disease, they go down quickly. She told QM to bring him back in 2 weeks, essentially giving Her time to say goodbye. She prayed over him every moment She had over each day. When they went back to the vet, she examined him and there was no evidence of jaundice-he'd gained weight and was sleek and groomed again. She said she had never known a "yellow cat" to recover. Tomas was known as the Miracle cat after that!
Moral is: when kitteh decides he likes it here very much thank you, they can surprise even the best vets with their longevity!
Charlie Taylor has surprises in store, I'll betcha!
Scritches to the Tough Guy!!

Yep, we hope he borrows a lot of time too. He looks so cute with all the girls in the office. Sandy our vet is like that too. So glad to hear Charlie's weight is up. Mom still can't believe that Gizmo went down to five pounds. Looks like it was a great day at the vet for Charlie.

Sending good purrs for Charlie to have many more happy years! He seems so calm at the v-e-t. We both hate going there and growl a lot.

We are all keeping our fingers and paws crossed that his time is L O N G! I am glad they were able to catch that cold before it really settled in and have gotten him the meds for it! He is looking wonderful considering everything he went through. I hope he puts a little more weight on though - maybe the oncoming cold had him eating a bit less, and now it will get better and he will eat more!
