Saturday - KC's Vet Visit

(click to biggify picture)
KC finally made it in to see Dr. Smith this morning.
Photo of the gorgeous Dr. Smith smooching her coy patient, KC.
The verdict was mixed, good and bad.
The bad news is that KC has a chronic URI and will be on daily antibiotics the rest of her life.
The good news is the surgery the other doctor wanted is unneeded.
KC got an antibiotic shot and an allergy shot, plus medication (drops) to take at home.
Dr. Smith also gave KC antibiotic nose drops, which deliver the antibiotic right to the congestion! In fact, this afternoon is the first time in months I've not heard her breathing loudly.
I also tried a variety of more healthy canned foods, included Evo duck, which won the hearts (and tummies) of all six cats.
KC alone ate over half of a six ounce can. Nothing wrong with her appetite.
Thank you to each and everyone for your purrs, grrrs and purrayers.
KC will continue to need those on a daily basis.
But the good news is her health problems can be managed with medications and care.

I am SOOOO glad you finally have some answers ... AND that surgery is not needed. How marvelous to see Dr. Smith and have such good news. And I agree with Grr that taking meds is no fun at all ... but definitely preferable to surgery.

We'll all continue to purr and pray that KC will be back to normal soon, sooner, soonest!

That's good news. We hope she feels better soon. We are also getting all kids of yummie food, because Mom buys everything that looks good to try and find something Bubbles likes. And the rest of us get all the leftover!

It's a relief that KC's URI can be managed. I am happy to hear that. It has been so upsetting lately, with so many Cat Blogosphere kitties so sick right now.

On another note, I need to send my human out to get some of that EVO stuff! It sounds tasty!

We're glad KC's medical problems can be managed with medication. Purrs and tail wags for her to keep breathing easier on the meds.

Who's holding her in the photo, Dr. Smith or Mom ML?

Wonderful news to read tonight about KC, we are so happy she will be able to be well even if it means medication for life. Two of us have chronic herpes of the eye and we take meds almost daily with a short break sometimes. Lots of purrs KC, such great news for such a great kitty.

We're all very glad that KC won't be having surgery and her little nosey can be managed with medicines. Dr Smith looks like a very nice vet too, having a smooch with KC.

We're glad everything is manageable! There are other things she can take, too, to support urinary tract health--Annie's vet had talked about the vet brand of glucosamine + chondroitin for bladder health, because the bladder walls have similar properties to joint tissue. You can always ask!

Continued purrs and universal Light!

We are thrilled that KC is ok ~ it's a shame abowt having to take medication for life. BUT as long as KC has quality of life and is loved and happy ~ nuffin else matters.
Our floofy cousin Gorjuss Ginger Gizmo hasta take medication every day too ~ and he is stil a very happy boy.

What good news that KC isn't going to need surgery - having to give her medication is a small price to pay for her being painfree and feeling well - one of mum's before cats had to have medication daily for cystitis and she just got used to it quickly and then made no fuss about having it. We hope her stuffy nose will improve quickly.
