Mom ML needs Purrs & Purrayers Today!
Remember when Missy Blue Eyes bit me a few weeks ago? (Click here to see related posts.)
It left a huge knot on the back of my right hand. It started to go away but has now come back.
The entire area is red and flushed, very painful to touch.
And it started migrating downward;
the original bite was right beneath the knuckle of the middle finger.
Now it has moved down almost to my wrist.
I’m having trouble moving my fingers and typing.
Yikes, if I can’t type, what will I do?????
I’m going to the doctor today, if I can get in, and let him fix it. Am very nervous.
Update: My appointment is for 2 pm today.
I'm back!
Had to have xrays done of the area, there is swelling about like half a golf ball.
The swelling is all infection! Ugh.
Dr. Bob was afraid the infection had gone into the bone.
The xrays showed it has not.
It is in the tendons and nerves, it really hurts.
I'm supposed to not use it, keep it elevated and keep heating pads on it.
He gave me a round of really strong antibiotics to see if it will respond.
Otherwise, I'll be referred to a hand specialist for surgical cleaning.
Which does not sound like a lot of fun.

(((hugs)))
Big purrs coming your way !!!!!!!!!
Purrs Tillie and Georgia
You don't have a line down your hand/arm, do you? That's blood poisoning--our grandma had that a couple of times, long before we were even born. Scary.
We're sending you healing purrs and hoping you only need antibiotics to clear this up!
oh my dearest ML...I will be praying for you all day until we hear an update on how the doctors visit went...I pray all will be well with you. this is ever so very dreadful and dragging on way too long almost 2 months now...something must be done to get to the bottom of why it is coming back!
Please know how much we love you and care so deeply at the cozy cottage and one special little ginger girl in heaven
We are purring all goes well for ML @ the DR. Healing purrs.
Faith you are gorgeous.
We hope you get some good news at the doctor. A cat bite can be bad. One of us bit Mom Bobbie on the arm. Left four teeth holes!
We are all purrring for you!!

Mom loves those tortie markings.... lovely!
Oh no! We hope ML gets that fixed up! Sounds scary!! :[
Msss Peach expresses Our own concerns; 2 months is way too long to not have the injury treated.
We will light Our Special Vanilla Incense to carry Our purrayers to the heavens for a quick, pain-free resolution.

Hello pretty Faith Boo! Purrs to ML from all of us!
Oh no, so sorry that the bited place is giving you trouble again. Will keep you in my thoughts and send purrs that the doctor can fix you up quickly. Take care and please let us know how you make out.
Faith is a beauty to be sure :-)
My boys are purring hard for you and hope your hand will get better soon. When Molly bit me once, I had to be on TWO kinds of antibiotics to fight the infection....I know how painful it can be!!!
Me, Charlie, and Priscilla are purring for a good news at the human vet for Mom ML! xo
With all the purrs and loves we're sending you, we know you'll be healed up in no time! We believe in the Power of Purr.
Faith, you're gorgeous!
Hard to believe Faith will be 4 next month. It doesn't seem near that long.
We are waiting on word of ML's doctor visit.
We just thought to check in to see if Mom ML has sent word about how things went at the doctors. We will burn more incense and keep purring, and check back later.
So glad you went to the doctor today and didn't wait. Also, happy the infection hasn't reached the bone. Infection is painful, so listen to the doctor and take it easy on that hand so it can heal. Purrs. Thud, thud. (The sound of we dogs wagging our tails.)
Ooh, that bite turned NASTY! We hope Dr can get the swelling an pain down fast...
Sending our best healing purrrrrrsss to Mom ML. We hope that Dr. Bob can fix you up. Cat bites can get really nasty, and it sounds like yours is getting really, really nasty.
Purrrrraying that you don't need surgery.
Oh ML, I'm so sorry about your hurty hand. Bites on the hand can be some of the worst. I am sending healing purrs.
*sigh* Mom ML!
Well at last there is a diagnosis. Don't be afraid if the infection needs to be aspirated, because QM had that done once for an abcess, and it felt better right away!
Well, almost right away. The Doctor told the nurse to give good pills that made QM forget the pain! hee hee!
We have now special purrs to focus on the healing if the infection.
Be a good Lady and do what your doctor says, okay?

Our mom had the same thing happen to her. She had to go to a hand specialist and fortunately, the infection had not gone to the bone. But our mom had to take some heavy duty antibiotics! And the hand surgeon told her to never ever wait again if she got bit bad by a cat. He told her he had one patient who lost a lot of his hand when he waited (because the infection went into the bone). That doctor scared our mom straight!!
We hope ML's hand feels better soon!!
We hope those aunti biotiks work!!
The Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
PURRRRRRRRRS to mom ML!!! We hope the infection will controlled by the antibiotics. At least it hasn't gone to the bone. Keep us updated but rest it as the doctor says.
You gets better ML, we send healing purrs to you.
Super-duper healing purrs to you Mom ML.
It is very hard to believe that little Faith Boo will be four years old next month. You do just what the doctor tells you to do for your hand, ML. A doctor once told me that 95% of all cat bites get infected, so it is best to see a doctor soon after any bad bite. Herman and Emma are sending healing purrs and you have my prayers.
Hi Pretty Faith Boo. How's that troublemaking going??
Hey, that stinks about your mommy's hand. We are purring and purring many healing purrs that she gets all better right away and doesn't have to see any icky specialist.
I think that we may have more sad news on the blogosphere. If we read this correctly, we think Beau's mommy passed away today
I have been so worried about you. Will hope and purr that the medicine clears all up and you will not have to have surgery. You must listen to the doctor and not to use your hand. Thinking of you.
Ok, next time that you get bit, go to the doctor immediately!!!! Maw found this out herself! Let's hope that the antibiotics fix it all up!
Luf, Us
It sounds like what I had along with my broken wrist, cellulitis. A terribly swollen and terribly painful infection. If the pills don't knock it put, you'll need to be infused in the hospital a couple of days.
xoxoxx
SEE MOM ML?!?!
The Admiral Hestorb knows from whence he speaks! We might have forgotten to mention cellulitis...nooo, you don't want that...
Well?
Can you tell us you've been a good hoomin and mum and taken all Our advice to heart, yeah?
We're Waiting.... ;-)
Oh wow...many many years ago the Woman's mom got bit by their cat and she got Cat Scratch Fever (ya, it's real!) and wound up in the hospital. I hope your antibiotics work FAST!
OMC poor ML! Purring hard that you get better with the antibiotics!!
Mom ML,
We just wanted to let you know we are purraying that the bitey will soon be all better...We want you all better, so you can help keep the cat bloggers purring in the right direction!
Snuggles,
Taz, Runt, and Charles
Get well soon, ML.
