Baby Cat Update

UPDATE:
Thanks for all of the wonderful comments.
They really made a difference.

Sometimes you can "analyze" way too much,
instead of just being thankful Baby is healthy and well,
and glad she choose me to live with.
The CB is a wonderful place, the best cats and humans.
Again, thank you for all the support and comments!

***********************************

OK, Baby and I are back home now.
Learned a few things about her...
Baby Cat isn't really a "baby" cat -- she is between 1-2 years old!
She is half Meezer and half Tabby.
She has had a litter of kittens!
She was covered with fleas (I could tell, she scratched constantly)
She weighs just 8 pounds.

The X-rays showed no babies, but bad constipation.
She's got a laxative to take.

She goes in Friday for her Lady-Garden-ectomy.
All her tests came out negative.
Dr. Smith said she will be tested again in 3 months.
If I allow her to be with her "brofurs & sisfurs" and her next tests turn out positive,
they would be infected.
Now I've got more questions than answers and feel a bit overwhelmed.

I started getting a really bad headache on the way home, so I am going to rest.
I don't know what to do about integrating her into my cat family.
Three months is a long time to keep her separated.

3 months sounds like a long time but don't let the idea make you sick. There has to be a solution.

We're glad she appeared to be okay. We'll start our purring motor that she can be integrated into the household without any problems.

Good luck.

Thanks so much for all the comments, today and before.
And the traffic fumes and stress triggered a small migraine, it will be gone by morning (fingers crossed).
Deb explained that for the three-month period between tests, there is very little chance the results will change.
I did try a bit of introduction, but Baby was really tired and cranky and the other cats were tired as well.
I let them rub noses for a few seconds and put Baby back in her bathroom.
I didn't mention on the blog, but they found a very deep scar on her right front leg. And Dr. Smith pointed out that Baby not only has stripes, she has polka dots on her paws.
Thanks again, everyone, for the answers and tips and just being there.

Mom ML & 7 (do you believe it?) Kitties

Good luck with her. We're glad there's nothing wrong other than fleas, and send purrs for her spaying and recovery.

She definitely looks like she has meezer in her, no question there. LOL.

Oops, sorry, well, the constipation too. We hope THAT gets sorted out soon too!

Slow Down! She came to you for a reason and the solution will come to you. You're feeling overwhelmed but you've got time and resources...

We have had vets say the same thing about tests, but normally once they test negative, it is all good. The only time we have had results change was kittens that tested positive and managed to throw the FeLV. (which can happen) We say take few days to let everyone settle and then try the introductions. :) We are glad she is safe with you!

We totally agree that if her tests are negative, there such a small chance that the tests will change. She probably will be all right eventually with the other cats. It all just takes time. She obviously has been living outside so she should get along with the other cats. We sure are sending tons of purrs that it all works out and we know it will since Baby Cat was sent just to you so she belongs there.
Take care.

She's just the prettiest little girl! We hope the introductions go well (Missy - you should be used to meeting other kitties by now, right?) :) Purrrrrrs!

We are glad the tests are all negative and hope they stay that way.We can't see why they would change. She is such a sweet little girl and was obviously meant to come to you. We hope the migraine is better now.

Purrs and Prayers Mom Mary Lynn. So glad that Baby got a great report except for her constipation. But all will work out in time. Gosh it is like looking at Casper growing up. He was light like her at one time. As he got older the darker he became. She sure doesn't look like she is a year or two old. She must have had a rough life so far until she met you. God Bless Mary Lynn and HE will work out things for you.

Oh, we just know everything is going to be fine and Baby Cat is right where she is supposed to be. It will all just fall into place...you will see. We will keep prayers going for her but we just know all is going to be wonderful with her being a part of your family. Hugs and nose kisses

Knowing nothing about such things myself, I would contact a university vet department and see if they have information on the odds that an initial negative test turns out positive 3 months later.
