- Sol has one white whisker, Smokey has two (the second is near his eye). Smokey has thick white patches underneath each front leg and across lower belly. Sol has sparse patches of white on his chest and tummy.
- They both have short, sleek coats. Sol is glossy black and Smokey is charcoal gray. Both have subtle darker stripes on their legs and faces.
- Sol and Smokey are both smaller than their twins (Sol's twin is Nigel, Smokey's twin is BJ). Only Autumn (female) is smaller.
- Sol has gorgeous silky white lips. Smokey has white "eye liner" on the top lids.
- Sol and Smokey (see Earl's Adventure) are the only Mites to get on top of the kitchen cabinets, walk across the laundry room door to the cabinets on the other side. (To do this, they must first open the laundry door and set it at an angle to reach the refrigerator.)
- Neither minds getting their paws wet to see something interesting. And they both sometimes drink water by dipping their paw in and licking it.
- Both can open the bottom drawers and get into a crawlspace behind the cabinets.
- Sol loves to drag things behind him, like a big broom. He drags it around the house by the bristles to his current play area. Smokey likes to push things in front of him: books, boxes, brooms. Sometimes they work as a team, with Sol on the "pull" end and Smokey behind, pushing. You'd be surprised what two little cats can move.
- They both sneak bags of Temptations out of the grocery bags (see #8) and hide them in their current play area.
- Missy enjoys snuggling and grooming both boys, as does KC.
- Sol and Smokey can actually get Missy to run and play with them.
- Sol has green-gold eyes and Smokey has golden eyes; both have narrow rings of emerald green around the iris, just like Momma Dinah.
- Smokey's toepads are pinkish and Sol's are soft black; both have pink ears.

What a great Thursday Thirteen, Sol and Smokey! I'm so glad that we got a chance to know you better. You are both growing up very fast.
Sol and Smokey are smart little tykes, aren't they? I can't wait to hear more about their adventures.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
Actually, Sol has also been in the bath tub, at the same time I was! He jumped and dove in, and came up head first right out of the tub.
He's also made a head dive into the toilet just as I was raising the lid. Again, just as fast, he somehow turned around and lept out. I am trying to "ban" him from the bathroom, but he can open the door.
He is just fascinated with water.
What handsome and fun cats you are. We're glad to read more about you.

We both laughed about #8 - maybe we should try that strategy with the shuffle board...

What smart man-cats-in-training you two are! You know, you two would make great vishus deer hunters when you're a bit bigger! You're both as fearless and curious as your sister KC! (Hi KC! Purrrrrrrrrrr)
