007 Sherwood - Rainbow Bridge's Newest Angel

007 had to be helped to the Bridge today. He was simply too sick. I think that Charley Taylor sent him to ML so that he could know such wonderful love during his final days. ML is heartbroken and so am I. I know that 007 is at the Bridge with Charley Taylor and they are talking about what a wonderful Mommy they had here on Earth, if only for a short time. They picked such a special person to spend their last time with here and they will be waiting at the Bridge.

love, Deb

Very Bad News

I just talked to Jessica at Houston Cat Hospital.

007 is about two years old, unneutered, probably a life long stray.

He has both FIV and feline leukemia.
His immune system is very, very weak.
He has lice and severe dental problems.
Plus even more severe health problems.

It is recommended that he be helped to the Bridge.
She said he is in the late stages of his life.

This is definitely not the news I expected.
Not the news I wanted.

007

007 spent all day Sunday in the carrier, snuggled up asleep.
He appears to be worn out.
He only came out to greet me once and to eat several meals and use the litter box.
BTW, all his "output" is normal!

2:30 a.m. Update:
Heard some noise from the bathroom where 007 is stationed.
He had thrown up all over the floor.
Cleaned it up and he is resting in the carrier, seems to be fine.
He got up and ate a bit of dried food and went back to sleep.

This morning about 8 a.m., 007 will travel to the Houston Cat Hospital.
I'm planning on leaving him there, overnight if necessary, until all the test results are in.

Will post as soon as I know anything... maybe we'll get some answers to some of the many questions, as 007 is indeed a man of mystery.
Is he really declawed? He IS NOT declawed. He grabbed my hand to pull it to him and he has very short claws way down in those huge floppy paws.
He doesn't appear to be neutered.
Is he chipped?
And is he healthy?
I know he does have skin problems, his fur has fallen out in places and he has a rash all over.
He is extremely dirty, filthy.
But I'm betting he cleans up really well.
So keep your paws crossed for little 007.

A Little Scruffy Visitor

He's been hanging around the past few weeks.
Tonight he is the bathroom, safe and sound.
Monday he will go to the vet to be checked out.

Midnight Update:
I'm going to name him "Stinky".
He pooped all over the counter.
He has gas. Lethal gas.
He is covered with itchy spots.
He's got huge paws and I think he is declawed.
I put him on dry food with lysine sprinkles and lots of water.
He wants to push up against me and snuggle.
And he has been purring!
Put one of my outfits in a box for him to sleep on.
I don't really know if we will keep him or find him a home, but he needs to see a vet, be tested and cleaned up.
Hopefully he is well except for having lived outdoors for a few weeks.

Here is a 3 a.m. photo of Mr. Stinky.
He just ate a few Temptations!

8 a.m. Update:
He used the litterbox!!!
He's eaten a huge bowl of kitten chow with lysine sprinkles.
He RAN up to me when I opened the door!
He doesn't smell quite so bad... either I'm getting used to it or he's getting better.
I hadn't thought about the microchip... hopefully he is and can be returned to his home.
Can't imagine someone dumping a clawless cat.

Project 2996 - We Remember - 9/11/2010

I am honoring Madelaine "Amy" Sweeney, a flight attendant aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on September 11, 2001. Normally, she would have been off duty, but had agreed to work an extra shift to help a sick friend. She and all passengers and crew were killed when the plane was slammed into the North Tower of the Trade Center.

Amy died relaying the last information from Flight 11 to American Flight Services Office in Boston via an air phone.
Sweeney: “Something is wrong. We are in a rapid descent . . . we are all over the place.
Woodward asked Sweeney to look out the window to see if she could determine where they were.
Sweeney responded: “We are flying low.We are flying very, very low. We are flying way too low.
Seconds later she said, “Oh my God we are way too low.
The phone call ended.

Amy was survived by her husband, Michael, a police officer, and two children.

We also honor hero Officer Thomas Michael Langone, click here for the post.

We will never forget the heroes of September 11th, 2001

What is Project 2996?
Project 2,996 is a tribute to the victims of 9/11.
Each year we will honor them by remembering their lives,
and not by remembering their murderers.

Mo' Cats Day with The Sherwood Bunch

The entire Sherwood Bunch,
KC, Missy Blue Eyes, Faith Boomerang, Smokey, Sol, and Brutus Jr.,
want to wish all their kitty, woofie and other critter friends on the "innernets"
a very happy Mo' Cats Day.

We want to say a big Thank You to Derby,
for thinking of this great solution to the idiotic notion of No Cats Day.

Thank you Nikita for the definitive post on the beginnings of No Cats Day, this is a must read post.

Love Live Cats on the Blogosphere!
Anyone who doesn't like it can TALK TO THA PAW...
or, in Derby's case (below),
they can TALK TO THA TAIL!

Now raise those paws in unity!

Whose Tortie Toes?

Here's a hint... her tail is so floofy it has its own name and zip code!

If you guess Faith Boomerang, you were right on correct.
And her tail is named George and its zip code is 77082.5.

Don't forget that Mo' Cats Day is coming up on Thursday!
Let's all participate... we'll show them *NO CATS DAY*!

Thanks to Derby for coming up with another winning idea
and to Zoolatry for the excellent graphics.

Smokey Tests a Skinneeez Squirrel

Smokey really enjoys being a Toy Tester.
He is completely in love with the Skinneeez Forest Series Squirrel.
He was still playing with it hours later. In fact, he carried it in and dropped it on his brother BJ's chest. Then the two of them rolled around with it.

The fact that it is not overstuffed... it is hardly stuffed at all... makes for easy batting, which results in all kinds of whopping and flying around. About 55 seconds into the video, Smokey makes a dive for the squirrel and does a flip and hits the wall.

Smokey and BJ both gave it an enthusiastic All-Paws-Up Rating.

Thanks to Nancy for giving us a chance to review this great toy.
