I feel so bad fur Asta's beans losing all them's photos. It is so easy to do sumfing like that, I's done it, too. So I's updating mine two artickles about backing up yours bloggies (KC Sez Backup Yours Blog and Tecknickle Tortie Toosday) using Greg's Cool Blogger Backup Utility, a fast, free backup utility that only works for Blogger blogs.
The current nooest release is v1.09.23. There is a tutorial on Downloading the Blogger Backup Utility 101 and screenshots to walk you thru installashun. Again, iffen you haf problems or need help, just ask. Like I said before, I's always happy to help unless I's taking a nap or chasing a bug or sumfing. And even then, I's help you afferwards. Hee hee. An Greg is a furry nice guy who's also happy to help when him's not waiting on him's kitties.
Once you download and install Blogger Backup, it is ready to use. It will automatikally find all yours bloggies... just enter yours Google login and password. Or, iffen you want to, you can manually enter the URL fur each bloggie.
After you haf a list of blogs, just select the one to backup by clicking the "Backup Posts" button. It's furry fast. The "Restore Posts" button is used, of course, if sumfing happened to yours bloggie.
I back up ours bloggies to an external hard drive that connects to the computer via a USB port and also to DVDs.
That takes care of yours bloggie, but wherever you store your photos, you should haf a backup. Asta's beans had them's photos organized using Picasa, free photo software from Google. I like Picasa cause when you install it, it searchs an finds all the photos on yours computer. I finded lots I didn't even know I had. There are easy instrukshuns to backup to a CD or DVD or to an external drive.
I hope this helps a bit. Iffen you haf questions, comments or suggestshuns, just leave them in the comments.
Love and Purrs,
KC

Thanks KC!! We were getting ready to email you and ask about the stuff you just posted about!! Now we just need to get Mom to do it!! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Your FL furiends,
For those who are on Wordpress Blogs on their own domain, wordpress has a handy dandy little plugin to help them backup their blog to their home computer where they can then back everything up onto another hard drive--either at an online place or at home.
All computers should do regular back ups, about once a week at least. Daily if you do a lot of changes. At least one backup should always be "off site" and not at your home.
KC....YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!! Thank you for being such a wonderful TECKIE!!!
Love, uSSSSS
Thank you!I have downloaded it already!
Thank you KC.

Thanks for the reminder KC! We export our blog to back it up monthly. I think we will do another type of back up as well.
Mommy forgets and sometimes she moves my photos around and the links break.
We're going to look at putting things all in one place - that is if she has any brain power left during her maternity leave.
This is a very important post ... I use the blogger backup when I remember, and it's nice to have the confidence that it is backed up somewhere. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the great info - I had my hard drive crash last year (I had moved my photos from my computer to the external drive and deleted them, but hadn't moved them to my secondary back up yet) and I lost all my pictures (except the ones I had already posted) of Virgil as a baby - we are still trying to get them back. I can't wait to go home and back up my blog (and then back it up again).
Oh thanks for reminding our mom to back uop our blog!
Great info, KC! Thanks for being on the ball and reminding us to be on our paws.
Thank you so much! Mom has our external hard drive out and will do this very soon! (hurry up mom, don't wait too long!)
T'anks for the info, KC! We'll get The Mommy to take a look this weekend and figger it all out fer us. You're a doll for helpin' everyone out.
Purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew
We just did it!!! It was pretty easy!
Excellent advice! Thanks.
Purrs,

Mom uses an online backup service to back up her computer. That way even if something bad happens, her files and pictures are safe. Check out Mozy.com or Carbonite.com.
Mom also backs up all the servants at her day hunting gig using an online backup service too.
Great info KC, thank you.
*facepaws* Thank you KC, now QM wouldn't have thought to back our blog up twice!
You have such cuteness and talent, KC!
Thank you for the information, KC. Now all I have to do is find the time and check to see if my external hard drive has enough space left for my blog. I may have to get a bigger one.
