Mancat Monday - Hero Smokey

Smokey is a natural hero.
Even before the wee hours of Saturday morning.
But he found and tracked a huge spider
roaming the bedroom while we slept.
He finally woke me up when it got lost in
some of the piles on the very messy floor.

As I cautiously moved the piles, item by item,
Smokey chased the intruder spider to the hall.
Faith Boomerang joined in, determined she stay
between the large spider and myself at all costs.
Protecting her helped me overcome an
intense fear of large spiders and make the kill!
The toilet-side funeral (aka flushing) was attended
by Smokey, Faith Boomerang and myself.

After that, I couldn't sleep!!!
While Smokey and Faith Boomerang kept a close eye (and nose)
for more spidery company, I cleaned out the entire bedroom.
Four trash bags, five donation boxes and
a lot of work later, it was scrubbed clean and neat.
Thanks, Smoke-Smoke!

(The newly-deceased was a grass spider, about 2-inches or a bit more...
to me, it was large huge.
If the cats try to kill one and get bitten, will it hurt them?
)

Smokey, seeing Pixel's comment: Oh, How You Doing, Pixel?
:: smooths back hair with paws ::

PS: Smokey enjoyed some small strips of pork roast for a special treat.
He is a very happy boy.

We are not sure if they hurt cats. At 2 inches,Mom would be a nervous wreck!!! Only wolf spiders are that big here(we hope) heehee

Mommy sez dat dey haf a weak venom dat will kill stuff like grasshoppers by paralizing dem but she sez dat dey don't usually bite unless dey is trapped and prolly couldn't bite thru furs anyway. She sed da most it would do is make da site of da bite irritated even if dey did bite yoo. Sadie ate one once, she didn't like da taste 'parently cuz now she just kills dem and leaves dem fur mom to pick up.

Oh, well done! Our human is scared of spiders, can't stand them, and screams something awful when she finds a big one. We think you both showed true heroism!

WOWSIE....what a stupid spider to come into the house of the Sherwood kitties. Didn't it read the sign at the door: "Enter at your own rist...Attack cats inside...espcially deadly to insects!"

Stupid spider! Probably couln't read. We hear illiteracy is a huge problem among the arachnid population.

Smokey you are our hero. We don't think grass spiders will hurt you. But be very careful of Black Widows and Brown Recluse, they can be lethal. ~AFSS

Smokey and Faith Boo are my kind of cats. I hate spiders! *shudder* But I'd trade a few spiders for the termites I'm having trouble being rid of.
