Monday with Baby Cat & KC

Baby loves Smokey StarChaser.
And of course, she played all night long.
She and I have a vet appointment with the wonderful
Dr. Kathleen Smith at 4 p.m.
Hopefully Baby will pass her tests and have full run of the house.
Now I am getting worried about how the big cats will react.
The last time I introduced new cats, they were teeny babies.
And there were only two adults, both females.
Any suggestions or tips?

Pee Ess: I was just looking at her, she seems to have lost a lot of weight. She is much thinner than when I first brought her into the house. She has a fairly good appetite, but isn't like my other cats, who tromple over me, other cats, anything to get to their food. Baby ignores the food until she has been hugged and kissed and petted for a while.

3 PM:
I am getting ready to leave for the vet and am very nervous.
Please, send Baby Cat lots of purrs, grrrrs, woofs and purrayers that she is okay.
Will post as soon as we get home.

Some will tell you to take it slow. I have always just introduced the new furbling but watched them closely!

If you can be at home, round the clock, we say go fur it. If not, very slowly. We are so glad we did over a weekend, so that we found out immediately that Precious was gonna be aggressive to Princeton. Good luck! We'll be purrin fur ya! xoxo

Always slowly! Let them smell each other first before really taking over each other's territory. Good luck!

Sniffies through the door help, open the door about an inch and dont let them push or pull it any further, they can see and sniff that way for an introduction.
Hopefully everyone just accepts her. They have to know she's there, even with a closed door, if they're not acting up, then it may not be a problem at all, that's what we are hoping/purring for you!

We hope everything goes well at the vet. There were a few "hissies" with Truffle when Brulee came home, but they were only 11 weeks apart. We hope the introduction go well.

We always let them get together several times a day and always watched to see if anybody needed a time out. As soon as anybody got agressive it was over. before we knew it, there were no doors.
Even though Kozmo and Nellie astill not best of friends (Nellie really is a Cat From Hell and she is 13 years iolder than Kozmo)they respect each others space. We rarely have any altercations.
Good Luck

I know that you have to let them snif eachother trough the door, if they react intrested and not angry you can put the door open a little bit. When there noses touch and still noting mean happend you can open the door. I learned that from the breeder of Lars and Odin.
Good Luck!

It sounds like you are getting some good suggestions here. I think slow is good, but in the end it's like getting a roommate randomly picked out from the Freecycle - some may turn out to be your best friend, with others you just prefer having parallel lives.

It's a new environment, new sounds, new smells, new food and alot of uncertainty. Give Everyone time to adjust and see what the vet says!

Do your alpha cats have a certain "area" that they rule? Mine do. If so, make sure to introduce them in a neutral area. For instance, Cocoa rules the area in front of the patio door. If I brought any new cat into his zone first, there would be serious issues. I'd have to introduce them elsewhere. Same with Grr and Kelly's room. Also, Baby Cat looks just like Rascal, as far as build. Rascal is just high energy and not much body fat. Compared to his sister, he looks like he has an eating disorder. Hope Baby passes all her tests!

Sure hope that Baby Cat passes all her tests. I agree with everyone else, that to do the introductions very slowly. Let her come out of her room but leave it there for her safe place. Another thing you can do is play with the other cats with a toy. That might help.
Keep us updated.

That Baby is adorable. Afraid I'm no help with your questions. It's been a long long long time since I've had a cute kitten around.

We are purring for Babycat to get a good report at the vet. We hope the introductions go well too.

Big, big purrs and prayers! We sure hope the vet visit went well.

As for the introductions, just take it slow, and let them smell each other through the door first (and then maybe a baby gate for awhile...).

Hugs!

We hope all went well for Baby Cat at the vet. Take it slow with the intros. All cats are a little different so you never know how long it might take. Play with them together...feed them together...always positive things together. Good luck!!
